Double Driver is a free tool that works well to provide you with a solid, reliable backup for your computer’s drivers.

The Double Driver Program

One of the biggest issues most people have with computers is that they don’t typically know enough about them to save their data. Knowing how to play games, install antivirus software, and a few tips and tricks to keep the PC clean isn't the same as understanding how the hard drive works and how to create a reliable backup for your important drivers and information. As you may already be thinking, that's some seriously boring stuff, and most people don't even attempt to learn it. This is why Double Driver can be such a lifesaver.

Rather than being a bulky, resource-heavy program, Double Driver is actually a small app that will quickly install on your PC and operate consistently alongside your computing activities. The file size is very small, only 2.1 MB, and the program’s developer, Boozet, designed the program to be very light on resources.

Features of Double Driver

Double Driver is an apt name for this program, but some people might still be confused about what it does. Does is actually mirror your hard drive and create a copy? One of the best things about Double Driver is that it's not that complicated. It makes copies of all the individual driver names you have on your PC. Say that you have that dreaded Blue Screen of Death and can't get rid of it, thus you want to go with a fresh install. This happens to a lot of people who find that they have lost their drivers. So when they reinstall, their graphics unit, Ethernet, etc, don't work because they’re not supported. Double driver keeps a backup of these drivers so you won’t be in that situation.

You can quickly install Double Driver, then just hit the “Backup” button, which then copies all your drivers to the program. Since the file size will still be relatively small, you can then back your list up to a thumb drive or some other external device and thus have a quick way to reinstall everything if you need to.

Another great thing about Double Driver is that it's not redundant. It recognizes which drivers are part of your Windows operating system, and it won't waste time and space by copying these drivers. You'll get these drivers again when you reinstall the OS; it’s the non-Windows drivers that the program sticks with.

Of course, you still have to remember to copy Double Driver to some type of external file or device or print a list out. If you go with a reinstall, Double Driver and its information will be lost just like every other program on your hard drive.
